(in)Human Billboards

This has been a part of our ~intellectual convos among us friends. In this age of innovation and all, how can such companies still revert to this kind of advertising. I do feel their need to show the masses their products/promos etc. but definitely not to this level.

Wikipedia defines it as:
"A human billboard is someone who applies an advertisement on his or her person. Most commonly, this means holding or wearing a sign of some sort, but also may include wearing advertising as clothing or in extreme cases, having advertising tattooed on the body. Sign holdersare known as human directionals in the advertising industry, or colloquially as sign walkers, sign wavers, or sign twirlers. Frequently, they will spin or dance with the promotional sign in order to attract attention."

Which proves my argument that this is a detestable act. In the end, it all comes down to those people who are willing to do this kind of job. I know for act fact that most Filipinos these days are suffering from the never ending crisis shadowing our country. So, to those who are courageous enough to deal with this (demeaning) demanding job. I salute you. And to the companies behind this, I just hope you are fairly compensating those who doing this and ummm... can you just put them in malls where it is cold rather than having them walk around hot/polluted streets. Pretty please?

One last note: I'm fond of viewing gigantic billboards (static/mechanic/digital) along roads while travelling, true story. But seeing them on sidewalks on weary hardworking people makes me wanna boycott your products. Just saying.
