House Bunny Quickie

[Quick post: we have a ~social gathering later.] So, I was strolling around the mall buying something for my mother cause I owe her a huge favor when I passed by a video store. They're on sale and this on movie title caught my eye. "The House Bunny" starring Anna Faris and featuring on her first film, my idol Katharine McPhee. I then taught of our party (which is later!!!) in which we can have movie marathon. So I approached the sales guy and with a large grin of accomplishment in my face I had this convo:

Me: "One House Bunny please".
SG: "Sir, our rated titles are over there the red curtain".
Me: (#%^$&%*@!!!) "No, I mean the comedy film, that one".
SG: "Ohhhh..okay sir but we only have that on VCD".
Me: "IRK!!! Who watches VCD's these days?!"
SG: "It's only fifty pesos sir".
Me: "Do you accept debit cards? :D".

:) I can't pass the oppurtunity to own another Kat related stuff so it's a win situation. We'll just have to make do on putting in the second disc. Ha!

A Whole New World

I'm not gonna start singing so relax. :D I can't really remember when I started wearing glasses. I thinks it's the time between gradeschool and highschool. I believe the reason why my eyesight got worse is because of my reading in the wee hours of the morning during that time. Like, I would be up by 4am then flunk myself in the dinner table to read books. No kidding. If you're the cool highschool guy or girl, the Mr./Miss popular ones...well good for you. But FORTUNATELY I'm not that kid. I was the resident dork. Yes, and I'm freaking proud of it. At least I am valuable, class wise all year-round and not only during intramurals or pageants. Blah... Anyway, I'm not here to rant about childhood bitterness but to share the best invention next to slice breads --- Contact Lenses. I do love glasses, seriously. But contacts are much more efficient for me. It's actually my first time wearing one. I was hesitant to get one back in college 'cause then I believe that contacts are just fads and I'm not really into social conformism. Everything changed when I first popped in my right contacts after waiting 2 weeks for it to be made and spending 4k+ bucks (which is actually way cheaper than glasses). It's like seeing things differently all over again. Things are much more clearer, crispier and blah blah. It was a big dorky moment for me in that eye store. I was like... wowww... If you saw me at that time you'll prolly think that I'm a kid who got a new toy. Ha! It's a joyous moment for me, to the point of almost hugging my optometrist. Haha.
Moving on, having contacts have it's downside. With glasses, you just put it on, put it down, clean it with something and you're done. With contacts, it's ~effortful. You have to wash hands, poke your eye with contacts, find for it when you freakin' drop it, clean it again, poke yourself more, and cursing your eyes for it's blinking reflex and wishing to have a eye spectrum to get this over with. And once you got it in place you have to lubricate it everyonce in a while to avoid drying. What's more you have to clean it at night after use. Ugh.
Looking at the bright side contacts apparently has this cute little cases to put it on. And I think I got carried a little in buying accesories for it.

I love my contacts! Woohoo!

All Over Again

I was sifting through my not-so-old music album when I bumped into Ronan Keating's music folder. For those of you who doesn't know him, he's a english singer widely know as a part of Boyzone. Boyzone is a all boy group or boyband in short. But unlike other boybands out there they're good in my honest opinion. Anyway, Ronan has been a solo act for years now. He's definitely one of my favorite guy singer, Jon McLaughlin included but that's going to be another different post.

Anyway, I love Ronan's music. I find his singing style very standard-ish. Nothing fancy, no frills, just good singing. When You Say Nothing at All from the movie Nothing Hill is definitely a ~favorite. But another track from his Bring You Home album made a mark into my life. It's a song I promised myself that I'll sing to that one true love waiting for me. (Cheese alert!) Or something I'll sing in my wedding. <3
The song has like a gazillion versions. The original album version with Kate Rusby. One with spanish singer Rita Guerra. Another Italian version with Rita Comisi. And with Floortje.

Here's the standard version with Kate Rusby

And my favorite version with Rita Guerra (Spanish Version)

And a version from...ehem..yours truly (I don't sing. Did this for fun. So haters to the left! :D)
It's with my good friend France from New York who made it to the Hollywood round of American Idol! Wahoo! This is such an honor.

Christmas is the Time....to be with Loved Ones

This is probably the first Christmas in 10 years that our family celebrated the Holidays complete. Well, my oldest brother is MIA as usual so I scratched him off the family tree. Ha! Joking.

We planned a simple dinner for Noche Buena. Nothing fancy, cause as they say we are celebrating Christ's birth and spending this season of love and goodwill with loved ones. The menu was planned, tasks are given and everything was prepared for the best Christmas the Lazatin's will have yet. Dad is in charge of the kitchen. Mom is spared of responsibilities as she has colds. Rc (my older sister) is in charge of babysitting. Benito's (nephew) job is to be as annoying as he can get, which he does so perfectly. While Nico's (niece) task is to be her little cute self for a minute or two and then be snob most of the time. And our Yaya Angelina's (no pun intended) share of work is to be the messman or messwoman in her case. And lastly, I'm in charge of desert and overall arrangement.

The night passed by pretty normally, a few laughs here and there. Photos and videos taken especially of Benito's weird antics. And Katharine McPhee accompanying us on background with her soulful holiday music collection. I was planning on having a family portrait with everyone in barong and pina but then most of got drunk and all flustered so raincheck on New Years' Eve hopefully.

Christmas wish? As cheeesssy it may sound, more Christmas like this. :)

Missing QA

I got a message from my dear cousin back from Qatar yesterday saying that they miss me being there. (tears) 'Cause no one will bake cake on Christmas eve. I then realized that - yes, I miss Qatar for many reasons. And I remembered I never really showed my appreciation for her(QA).

My top 10 things I miss about Qatar.

Grilled Chicken Combo
- Half chicken, fries, cucumbers/carrots/lettuce, garlic sauce, pepper sauce, unlimited biryani rice. Need I say more?

Co-workers
- Though I not a big fan some peepz there. I do definitely miss the people who seeks my help and the respect they give me even though I'm a fairly new nurse.

My Clinic
- I absolutely do nothing here. Mostly watch movies, facebook and sleep. (that examination bed is more comfortable than it looks)

Headgear
- I revolutionized fashion in my company for real. When I started only field workers wear this kind of headgear and most senior officials doesn't dare wear this accesorry. But when I started walking around with this on, they all followed. Seriously.

Doha in general
- Everything is neutral in color. You'll rarely see something outrageous. I think I miss the consistency of the scene.

Family and Friends
- My cousin who gladly treated me as a real brother and let me in their lives. I'm forever grateful for everything. And of course the friends I made. Sure we just saw each other on weekends and known one another for a few months but you guys made every weekend a reason to look forward too.

Malling/Shopping
- Gone are the days of tax-free shopping and wages that allows me to have my emergency shopping fund.

Long Hair
- 'nuf said.

Camels/Petrol/Cakes/Turkey
- I miss my camels! They are my constant companions. They are good listeners and they always tries to eat my hair.
- Cheap petrol - only in the middle east
- Baking is much cheaper there.
- Turkey! Pawns Andok's and Baliwag

Winter
- Brrrr...!
